C.J. Skateboard Programs

Our skateboard programs are simply the best in Canada, and we provide skaters with a world-class facility! We offer a variety of programs for all skateboarding for all skill levels and ages. From introductory programs geared to gradually introducing people to their very first experience on a board through to advanced skateboarding programs. C.J.’s instructors provide simply the best instruction, support, and care. Our programs include:


Introductory Skateboard Program (for boys and girls ages 5 and up)

C.J.’s Introductory Program begins with a focus on safe skateboarding including a brief introduction to sport specific stretching, exposure to a variety of safe falling techniques, the use of safety equipment, and how a skateboard and its different parts work. This program takes all new skaters from their first steps on a board through fundamental maneuvering.   • For first time skateboarders ONLY with no previous experience (Instructor reserves the right to move a student to a program appropriate to their skill level)
  • For boys and girls ages 5 to 14
  • Includes all safety equipment rentals (helmet, pads, skateboard)

Duration

  • Five classes over 5 weeks, 45 minutes, 1 day a week.
  • Max 20 kids per class (book early to avoid disappointment.

Beginner Skateboard Programs

Prerequisite Skill

  • Successful completion of our ’5 for $5′ Introductory Program or have had some experience on a skateboard and demonstrate basic skills (safe falling and basic maneuvering).
  • *Safety equipment is not included.
  • Skateboard and safety equipment rental is available at a cost.

Our Beginner Program includes the following: Skateboard components and selection, skateboard orientation, skate park etiquette, skateboard safety, navigating the skateboard (street, bowl, transitions), pushing on flat ground, coasting, carving, stopping by foot breaking, drop in ramps, tic-tacs, rolling down bank ramps, kick-turns & carves on banks, kick-turns on transitions, introduction to the Ollie, and more!   • Please note: No substitutions allowed; lessons run consecutively for 7 weeks therefore missed lessons cannot be made up at a later date.
  • A minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 students per group for this beginner program.

Intermediate Skateboard Programs

Prerequisite Skill
  • Must demonstrate basic skills (safe falling and basic maneuvering).
  • * Safety equipment is not included.
  • Skateboard and safety equipment rental is available at a cost.

Our Intermediate Program…leads students through a growing list of skill sets (including flat ground, Ollies, flip tricks, ramps, ledges, rails, vertical, etc.), and their application on a wide variety of terrain. Students will also be introduced to competitive skateboarding. The Intermediate Program closes with a progress report including recommendations for further study. Duration

  • Classes run for 1 hour, 12 classes over 12 weeks, one class per week
  • Limited space (book early to avoid disappointment).
  • Please note: No substitutions allowed; lessons run consecutively for 12 weeks therefore missed lessons cannot be made up at a later date.
  • A minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 students per group for this beginner program.

Advanced Skateboard Programs

Prerequisite Skill
  • Must demonstrate strong intermediate skills.
  • *Safety equipment is not included.
  • Skateboard and safety equipment rental is available at a cost.

Our Advanced Program explores the following:
Skateboarding as self-expression, psychological preparation (visualization, stress management, and having fun), physical preparation (developing new tricks, nutrition, stretching, and cross-training), managing risk, Managing expectations, competition skateboarding. Key values promoted include: Fun, fairness, excellence, respect, and giving back. The Advanced Program closes with a progress report including recommendations for further study. Instructors usually recommend skaters for placement in this program.
